“Wimpy theology makes wimpy women. “

This week, childbirth is on my mind. Not only because two of my dear friends are great with child and are looking forward to imminent deliveries, but because daily I am telling the story of Jesus’ birth to my one-year-old. When I imagine Mary carrying her precious but heavy burden on that turbulent trip to Bethlehem, it humbles me. I remember feeling a long car trip at the end of my pregnancy was a trial. Mary was not a wimpy woman! She endured physical hardship I will probably never understand. She endured slander and ridicule because of the misunderstanding surrounding Jesus’ conception. She trusted God’s Word above all else and staked her faith on His promises.
Last week another dear friend sent me an excerpt from John Piper’s message given at the True Womanhood conference earlier this year. Take a few moments to listen to his Biblical words and reflect on how you are living for the glory of Christ this week as you consider Mary’s tremendous example!
